Welcome to Brooklyn Community Services
With award-winning programs and over 40 locations across Brooklyn, BCS serves over 20,000 individuals in need annually. We empower Brooklyn residents to maximize their potential, serving low income Brooklynites of all ages: from early childhood to adults in their senior years. We strengthen families, educate children, and help adults dealing with poverty, homelessness, mental illness or disabilities become self-sufficient. Education, employment, and mental health services are just some of the ways that we enable our community to achieve their goals.
Last week, The BCS COVID Outreach Team held a wellness event at BCS Prospect Plaza Community Center in Brownsville, Brooklyn! We gave out water bottles, COVID test kits, PPE, and tote bags, as well other health and wellness resources to the community. When our programs partner with each other, we maximize our critical support to residents!

Our Fatherhood Program is still recruiting! BCS Fatherhood helps fathers establish positive, healthy, and supportive relationships with their children through services like conflict resolution training, father-to-father mentoring, child support and visitation assistance, and individual and family counseling. Today BCS held a Health and Education Fair at our Education Center in Sunset Park! Together with our partners, we were able to provide free educational and health resources to residents, like financial literacy workshops, prenatal and postpartum care information for new and upcoming mothers, dental screenings, as well as connect Brooklynites with mental healthcare, childcare, HIV testing, and proper identification. A HUGE thank you to our powerful partners: @brooklynrunningco, @pocketschange, @nyconnects, @id.nyc, @nycbirthvillage @nyulangone, and @libertydentalplan. Thank you for sharing our vision of a Brooklyn for All, where every resident has the resources they need to thrive!

The BCS Speakers’ Bureau relaunched this month! For years, The BCS Speakers’ Bureau has invited successful professionals to speak with and motivate students at our transfer high school, Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service (BHSLCS). Recently, members of the Kings County and NYC Court System joined students to share about what led them to working in a court of law, and how students can pursue this kind of work too! Their speeches were transformational and powerful for our students, who share similar backgrounds to these positive role models. We love reading... and our BCS volunteers! Our preschoolers and elementary students recently joined a reading workshop with Volunteer Laila Aburaya, where they learned to read books out loud. We just wrapped up our week long, BCS volunteer initiative, #SpringintoAction, and we are so grateful for the many community members who selflessly supported the children and families in our programs.
